Brownwood enters the 2026 season with a young roster under second-year head coach Kristin Grimes after finishing 16-19 overall and 2-8 in district last year.
The Lady Lions return 5 lettermen and 2 starters from their 2025 squad and have just two seniors on the roster.
2025 season: Finished 16-19 overall, 2-8 in district.
Brownwood returns 5 lettermen, including 2 starters.
Key players:
- Demayha Hooker (Sr. MB): Led the team with 139 kills, a 31.3 percent kill rate and a .133 hitting percentage last season.
- Kaydence Chandler (Jr. MB): Athletic middle blocker expected to play a major role at the net.
- Ashantia Green (So. OH): Dynamic outside hitter whose ball control and athleticism make her a key part of the offense.
Team outlook: Grimes believes Hooker will anchor the front row with her combination of height, speed and ability to attack from the middle. Chandler provides another strong presence at the net while Green gives the Lady Lions a promising young outside hitter as the program develops a youthful lineup.
Brownwood competes in District 6-4A alongside Brock, Glen Rose, Graham, Mineral Wells and Stephenville.
