Abilene Christian School Football and Volleyball Season Outlook for 2026

August 11, 2026

Abilene Christian School players return for the 2026 season

Panthers Football

Justin Gorman is the new head football coach at Abilene Christian School. The Panthers return nine lettermen, including three starters on both offense and defense, from last year’s team that made the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ six-man playoffs with a 7-4 overall record and 2-2 mark in district.

“This year’s team will be less experienced, but it will be versatile,” said Gorman, who called junior QB/DB Nate Presley an “outstanding player with great skills offensively and defensively and a leader on the team.”

Presley threw one TD pass last year and rushed for 237 yards and four touchdowns. He also had three interceptions on defense.

Senior WR Brysonn Waggoner had 26 receptions for 597 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago.

“Brysonn was our leading receiver last year and has a great ability to make contested catches,” Gorman added.

Junior WR/DB Noah Buford has been a starter since his freshman year, according to Gorman. Senior DL Jake Swenson had 43 tackles and three sacks last season.

Other returnees for the Panthers include sophomore RB/DB Amick Goetz and senior C/DL Boston Bailey.

Abilene Christian’s TAPPS Division 1 District 1 for six-man football includes Lakehill in Dallas, Midland Christian, and Temple Christian and Covenant Classical in Forth Worth.

The Abilene Christian School volleyball team is looking forward to a big season. The Lady Panthers return eight starters last year’s squad that finished 24-16 overall and 7-3 in its Texas Association of Private Schools’ district.

“This year’s team is more experienced, explosive and well-rounded,” ACS coach Arnett McClure said. “We lost in regionals last year. We look forward to building on our success from last year, and we are setting high goals for this team.”

The Lady Panthers are led by senior libero/setter Addie Driskill and junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Audrey Rideout.

“Addie is a great leader on and off the court,” McClure said. “She is a very talented and proved player at multiple positions. Audrey is a power hitter with 402 kills last year. She is capable of playing any position on the court.”

Driskill had team-high 447 digs and 754 assists a year ago.

Other returning starters include junior outside hitter Coralynn Gates, junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Taylor Patteson, senior middle hitter Audrey Team and senior defensive hitter Sara Ice.

“Coralynn has developed into one of our more consistent and dependable hitters,” McClure added.

ACS will also welcome the addition of 6’1” junior middle hitter Gwen Powell, who transferred from Wylie.

The Lady Panthers play in the same district with Crowley Nazarene, Arlington Burton Adventist Academy, Denton Calvary, Fort Worth Temple, Weatherford Christian, and Fort Worth CLPS.
