The Rotan boys basketball team is looking a return trip to the Class 1A playoffs, only this year they hope they can make at least one more step.
The Yellowhammers return three starters and six letterman from last season’s squad that finished 15-7 overall and 10-2 as the runner-up to Knox City in District 15-1A. Rotan, however, lost to Benjamin in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
“Our team this year will be small but fast,” assessed second-year Rotan coach Gus Gesling. “We are fast and athletic.”
The Yellowhammers lineup will be dominated by underclassmen, however.
Leading the way for the Yellowhammers will be junior guard Jaxon Warren and junior forward Jordan Daniel, who topped the team in scoring and rebounding, respectively, last season.
Junior guard Zac Flores is back after leading the team in assists last year.
Gesling is also counting on contributions from sophomore forward Hunter Harris, freshman guard Grayson Jeffrey and junior guard Kaeden Krebsbach.
