District 4-2A Division I Football Season Outlook: Ballinger, Colorado City

Ballinger

Ballinger enters the 2026 season looking for improvement under second-year head coach Bryan Gayoso.

The Bearcats move into a new District 4-2A Division I that includes Reagan County, Christoval, Colorado City, Forsan, Ozona and Sonora.

2025 season: Finished 3-7 overall, 0-5 in district.

Ballinger returns a young roster led by several key contributors on both sides of the ball.

Key offensive players:

• Wyatt Clemens (Jr. QB): Expected to lead the offense after throwing for 256 yards and 3 TDs in limited action last season.
• Hunter Kresta (Sr. WR): Top returning receiver with 101 receiving yards and 2 TDs.
• Dylan Page (Sr. WR/LB): Experienced two-way contributor.

Defensive leaders:

• Kaiden Medrano (Sr. LB): Averaged 8.2 tackles per game and added an interception and fumble recovery in 2024.
• Josh Martinez (Sr. OL/DL): Recorded 2 sacks last season.
• Dylan Page (Sr. LB)

Ballinger hopes its young core can take a step forward as the Bearcats begin competition in the newly aligned District 4-2A Division I.

Colorado City

Colorado City is looking to make strides in year two under head coach Daniel Mejia.

2025 season: Finished 1-9 overall.

The Wolves return 14 lettermen, including 9 offensive starters and 8 defensive starters, giving the program valuable experience entering the fall.

Key offensive players:

• Ace Mejia (Jr. QB): Passed for 1,185 yards and 10 TDs and rushed for 507 yards and 9 TDs last season.
• Brandon Lee (WR/DB): Team’s leading receiver with 27 catches for 507 yards and 7 TDs.
• Colton Johnson (So. QB/WR/DB): Versatile playmaker expected to contribute in multiple roles.

Offensive line leaders: Curtis Lindsey (Jr. OT/DE), Aiden Wooddell (Sr. OG/DT), Jace Garcia (Sr. OT/DE) and Uriah Salazar (DT).

Defensive leaders:

• Noah Atkinson (LB): Team-high 97 tackles and 2 sacks.
• Brandon Lee (DB): Recorded 3 interceptions in 2024.
• Curtis Lindsey (DE)
• Aiden Wooddell (DT)

Colorado City will compete in District 4-2A Division I alongside Ballinger, Reagan County, Christoval, Forsan, Ozona and Sonora.
