The Albany boys basketball team returns the bulk of its team from a year ago when the Lions took third in District 10-2A with a 8-4 record. Albany won its bi-district playoff game before losing 64-60 to Italy in the area round.
“The strength of this year’s team is its experience,’ said Ryder Peacock, in his 11th season as the head boys basketball coach at Albany.
The Lions bring back nine lettermen and four starters from last year’s team. Returning starters are 6’2” senior post Cole Chapman, 5’10 senior guard London Fuentes, 6’0” senior guard Coy Lefevre and 6’2” junior forward Adam Hill.
Chapman was the team’s top scorer a year ago, while Hill was the Lions’ top rebounder and Fuentes led the team in assists.
Back to provide depth for Albany are 5’9” junior guard Luke Marshall, 5’10” junior guard Lute Wheeler, 6’0” forward Lanxton Viertel, 6’3” forward Houston Heatly, and 5’8” guard Branson Beal.
Albany’s returning experience should mean the Lions are in the thick of a tough, balanced race for the title in District 10-2A, along with Cisco, Anson, Hawley, Hamlin, Stamford and Haskell.
