Cisco Boys Basketball

November 11, 2022

The Cisco boys basketball team went 20-5 last year and won the District 10-2A title with an 11-1 mark, advancing to the regional semifinals before losing in overtime to Celeste.

Although the Loboes return just one starter off that team, they bring back seven lettermen and veteran coach Kevin Hearne believes his team will be a playoff contender again.

“We will be much smaller this year but better shooters, depth and ball handlers compared to last season,” said Hearne, in his 17th season as the boys basketball coach at Cisco.

Tre Brackeen, a 6’4” senior forward, is the Loboes’ top returning scorer, averaging 10.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game a year ago.

“Tre is a three-year starter and an excellent rebounder and defender,” Hearne pointed out.

Gavin Landenberger, a 5’8” senior guard, and 5’9” senior guard Cade Gayle will head up the Loboes’ backcourt. Gayle averaged 3.2 assists per game last season.

“Gavin is a talented playmaker and shooter,” Hearne added. “Cade is a good 3-point shooter who hit several big shots last year.”

Other key returnees for Cisco include 5’9” senior guard Aidan Landenberger, 5’9” senior guard Braden Andrews, 5’8” junior guard Cole Thompson and 6’2” senior forward Trenton Huston.

District 10-2A should feature an interesting race this year with Cisco, Albany, Hawley, Stamford, Hamlin, Anson and Haskell.
