Teams that play Cisco this season will have to contend with the Loboes’ size.
Coach Kevin Hearne, in his 16th season at Cisco, welcomes the return of his son, 6’4” Dawson Hearne, to the lineup. The younger Hearne was the district offensive most valuable player as a sophomore but missed last season due to ACL surgery. He averaged 14 points and 5.2 assists per game in 2019.
The Loboes, however, have plenty of size to go along with Dawson Hearne, especially 6’7” senior Leo Wood.
“He had a big impact during our playoff run last year,” Coach Hearne said.
Cisco went 20-4 a year ago, including an 11-1 mark in capturing the District 10-2A title, and advanced to the Class 2A regional finals before falling 59-52 to Lipan.
“We will be bigger and more inside-oriented this year,” Hearne stated, “but we will be less experienced. Size and physical/mental toughness is our biggest strength but experience at the guard position is our biggest weakness.”
Tre Brackeen, a 6’3” junior, returns after being the Loboes’ leading scorer last season. He averaged 10 points and 9.2 rebounds per game a year ago in earning first-team all-district honors. Brackeen is one of two returning starters and five returning lettermen for Cisco.
Kasen Conring, a 6’2’ senior, is back for Cisco, too, after missing much of last season. He tore an ACL in late December. Hearne said Conring is “athletic, long and plays hard.” Trent Bailey, a 6’2” senior, provides the Loboes with a 3-point shooting threat. Hearne called Bailey a “hard-nosed competitor.”
