After seven years as the basketball coach at Baird, Jeff Campbell now takes over the boys basketball program in Anson. He inherits a team that finished 13-12 overall and was 8-3 as the third-place team in always-competitive District 10-2A.
Highlight of the season for the Tigers was an upset win over district champion Cisco. Anson lost 68-52 to Archer City in the bi-district round of the Class 2A playoffs.
Campbell admitted he has to learn more about his team after being hired late for the job.
Leading the Tigers will be 5’10” senior guard Dylynn Pyle and 6’1” senior forward Mason Hagler, according to Campbell.
He is also counting on guard Blake Vinson to contribute. Anson will try to battle for one of the top four spots to make the playoffs from District 10-2A. Cisco, Albany and Hawley were the other three playoff teams from the district besides Anson.
